At the Bintaro Design District (BDD) event, WOF Wooden and KICKYOURBUTT Project (KYB) collaborated to create a new alternative material. As the Good Design Award winner, KICKYOURBUTT consistently uses cellaflakes as its main raw material. Mixing other materials with cellaflakes is familiar to KYB. He has combined it with masks, coffee grounds, and even fabric waste. With the same format, WOF Wooden and KYB tried to use sawdust as the mixed raw material.

The theme of Envisioning Nature raised by BDD this year aligns with our goal to be wiser and more aware of using raw materials. Therefore, FROM FUNCTION became the title of the WOF Wooden x KICKYOURBUTT Project exhibition.

We tried to play with the statement “Form Follow Function”. It turns out that not only does the form affect the function, but also where the materials that we use for design also have an influence on the function.

From this new material, it will then be used as the raw material for the production of the latest product series from WOF, namely the F SERIES.

The F SERIES consists of the F BENCH and the F STOOL. Both use the WOF x KYB material and have successfully reduced the use of solid wood by approximately 30%.

FROM FUNCTION becomes relevant because the collaborative material can be molded into boards that can be reused as production raw materials. Waste wood that is usually unused can now be reused and become a new catalog.
